The Intergenerational Rescue Foundation (IRF) has announced Agroween 2024, an event focused on promoting agriculture and sustainable farming practices in Nigeria. Agroween celebrates the nation’s food, agriculture, innovation, and sustainability annually. IRF COO Bimbola Bolaji-Aghahowa described Agroween as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity, wastage, and hunger. The event will gather stakeholders from the food and agricultural industry, including young farmers, researchers, food entrepreneurs, and agribusinesses. Agroween 2024 will feature exhibitions, equipment displays, parades, and interactive sessions on sustainable agriculture. Exhibitors will showcase their produce and participate in activities like bazaars, subsidized sales, auctions, and donations to Agroween food pantries in schools and communities. The top five exhibitors will receive prizes worth millions of naira. While the event date is yet to be announced, it is open to schools, agribusinesses, food entrepreneurs, food and beverage companies, and agriculture enthusiasts. Interested participants can register on the IRF website. The first Agroween was held in Lagos last year, chaired by LASACO Chairman Chief (Mrs) Teju Philips and hosted by comedian Gbenga Adeyinka.
