Our Review
The Christian Conscience’s call for immediate action to ensure food security during Nigeria’s rainy and planting season underscores the critical intersection of agriculture, security, and economic stability. Insecurity and banditry significantly disrupt farming activities, reducing food production and increasing prices. This situation exacerbates food insecurity and economic hardship for the populace. The government’s primary responsibility is to ensure a secure environment for farmers. Effective measures to combat banditry and facilitate safe access to farmlands are essential.
Additionally, improving access to funding for upscale farming and enhancing the transportation of food items are crucial steps to stabilize food prices and ensure availability. This communique aligns with the South West governors’ initiatives to improve agricultural productivity, food processing, and social infrastructure. Collaborative efforts across government levels are vital to address these multifaceted challenges and achieve lasting food security and peace
