Troops in Potiskum, Yobe State, arrested a 40-year-old man, Mallam Auwal Sule, for attempting to smuggle farm machinery recently distributed by the government. Sule was caught with 11 seed planters, which he claimed to have bought from beneficiaries of the state’s Agric Empowerment program for N40,000 each. He intended to sell the items in Kano. The suspect and the equipment were handed over to the NSCDC. Governor Mai Mala Buni had warned against sabotaging the state’s agricultural efforts, stating that such acts would be met with strict consequences.
