In a bid to unlock Nigeria’s food security potential through the optimization of resources and technological advancement, AgroEknor is spearheading transformative initiatives to address underperformance in the agricultural sector. Despite Nigeria’s vast arable land and growing rural population, the country continues to struggle with low agricultural productivity, food waste, and infrastructural deficits. AgroEknor, known for its commitment to sustainable practices, advocates for impact-driven strategies such as backward integration, which focuses on rewarding farmers and leveraging innovation to enhance yields and reduce labor intensity.
During the 115th anniversary of King’s College, Lagos, key strategies for optimizing resources and deploying technology to enhance food security were outlined, including precision farming, advanced irrigation techniques, and post-harvest technologies. AgroEknor’s launch of the YieldPro platform further supports these objectives by enabling farm monitoring and data collection to increase efficiency and transparency in cultivation activities. Their FEEP and Springboard projects also aim to empower smallholder farmers and female agro-processors, particularly in Kano and Jigawa States, through financial literacy and entrepreneurship resources. The collaboration between AgroEknor and public institutions is designed to mitigate challenges along the agricultural value chain and ensure Nigeria’s food security by 2030.
