Our Review
Nigeria’s agricultural sector, plagued by decades of neglect and underfunding, faces a dire crisis characterized by stagnating productivity, food insecurity, and rising food imports. Despite contributing significantly to GDP, agriculture receives only 1-2% of the federal budget, insufficient for addressing systemic challenges such as poor land tenure, limited irrigation, outdated technology, and inefficient distribution. To unlock its potential, Nigeria needs strategic investments in infrastructure, research, and public-private partnerships, alongside empowering farmers with access to credit, training, and technology.
