The West Agro Input Dealers Association (WAIDA) in Oyo State has received certificates from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NAFDAC) to validate their operations. WAIDA, comprising dealers in agro inputs like seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, has been recognized for its competence in handling agro-chemicals responsibly. NAFDAC’s South-West Zone Director, Mrs. Roseline Ajayi, highlighted the importance of regulating chemical use to prevent misuse and ensure safe farming practices. She emphasized the role of WAIDA members in educating farmers about proper chemical application to avoid residual chemicals in food products. Ajayi also noted that this certification aims to reduce rejections of Nigerian agricultural exports due to chemical residues.
Elder Solomon Adenitan, Oyo State Chairman of WAIDA, expressed relief and pride in receiving the certification, encouraging other members to get listed for quality assurance. Regional President Alhaji Sulaiman Adekola praised the milestone as a step toward safe and responsible agrochemical use in Nigeria.
