In Taraba State, consumers and grain dealers are concerned about the consistently rising prices of grains. Prices have increased significantly since the beginning of the harvest season. For example, a 100kg bag of maize rose from N20,000 in November to N31,000-N32,000 currently. Similarly, a 100kg bag of paddy rice increased from N17,000 to N32,000, and a 100kg bag of locally processed rice went from N64,000 to N90,000. The price of white beans also surged from N45,000 to N60,000. Traders predict that food prices may rise even higher than last year, where a 100kg bag of maize was N23,000 at this time, now costing N42,000–N50,000 in some states. Source: DailyTrust
