The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) announced that the country could generate N420 billion through public-private partnership (PPP) projects. At the Annual Leadership Summit in Abuja, NVMA President Dr. Moses Arokoyo emphasized the urgent need for food security and combating zoonotic diseases through mass livestock vaccination. He stated that veterinarians could significantly boost the national GDP by training farmers in advanced livestock management and vaccination, reducing harvest times, and implementing cost-effective interventions. PPP projects in poultry alone could generate N420 billion annually.
Dr. Arokoyo also highlighted the importance of deploying veterinarians across local governments for enhanced disease surveillance and intervention. He stressed that veterinarians could drive GDP growth through improved livestock management and strategic PPPs.
